This fire is burning in/around Bastrop (near Austin). Over 14,000 acres burned so far, over 300 homes lost. One neighborhood is described as “wiped out” with no structures remaining.

This is only one of about 7 major fires burning in the Austin area right now.

Oh fucking shite.

It’s at about 34,000 acres, 800 houses right now. Only 30% of the fire was contained by this morning’s report and smoke has been blanketing the city off and on all day. It’s still pretty hazy outside of my office.

He’s a little slow texting back sometimes, I think he’s okay. I almost had a panic attack yesterday when I found out there was a fire at Steiner Ranch because my grandparents live really close to Steiner Ranch. Then I remembered they’re at their vacation house in NM and checked the fire spot map and the fire was a few miles away from their property, luckily.

yeah….But I dont know WHERE in Bastrop that they live. I mean…I’m sure they’re ok. They’re both sensible people and they were packed up and ready to leave if they had to. But I’m still worried about their house. What if their house is just gone!?
